NICKI WELLS
As a singer-songwriter, composer and producer, Nicki Wells incorporates both Western and Eastern influences into her music, inspired by her childhood in Dharamshala, India and her joint Italian, Swiss and British heritage.
With a Father who loved Randy Newman and Bob Dylan and whose Mum loved Mozart and Oscar Peterson, Nicki's musical influences would become vast and eclectic. Spanning from troubadour songwriters like Jeff Buckley, Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake, through to the cinematic landscapes of Thomas Newman and the undeniable thread of Indian Classical Music, particularly heard through Nicki's unique vocal approach. As a featured vocalist in Nitin Sawhney’s band, Nicki has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious venues from London’s Royal Albert Hall and Sydney Opera House to Glastonbury’s main Pyramid Stage, and she has built a dedicated following through a series of her own sold-out solo shows.
Her voice has contributed to a number of films including Andy Serkis’s Mowgli, Deepa Mehta’s Midnight’s Children, Renny Harlin’s The Legend of Hercules and was a major part of the scores of BBC Documentaries such as The Human Planet series. Her self-produced debut album Ellipsis is due on the 18th August 2023 and promises to be her most raw and honest material yet.
